Unlinked References
What are Unlinked References?
Section titled “What are Unlinked References?”Unlinked References shows every block in your graph that mentions a page name as plain text
without using a [[wikilink]]. For example, if you have a page called “Project Alpha” and a
block on another page that says “worked on Project Alpha today” (without brackets), that block
appears as an unlinked reference on the Project Alpha page.
Linking these improves graph connectivity and backlink coverage. Each linked mention becomes a visible backlink, making your graph more navigable in both directions.
How to access it
Section titled “How to access it”Open Unlinked References from the sidebar. The view lists all plain-text mentions of page names found across your entire graph.
Alternatively, the Backlinks panel at the bottom of each page page shows both linked and unlinked references for that specific page.
Key interactions
Section titled “Key interactions”- Each entry shows the block text and the page where the mention appears
- The matched page name is highlighted in the block text
- Tap Link to convert the plain-text mention to a
[[wikilink]]automatically — the file on disk is updated immediately - Tap Dismiss to hide the suggestion without linking — dismissed suggestions do not reappear unless the text changes
- Scroll to browse all suggestions across your graph
Why link unlinked references?
Section titled “Why link unlinked references?”More wikilinks create more backlinks. When you link a mention, the linked page’s Backlinks panel shows the full context of where it was mentioned — making your notes navigable in both directions. This is especially valuable for:
- Person pages (
[[Alice]]) — see every note where you mentioned Alice - Project pages — see every journal entry, task, and note that references the project
- Concept pages — trace how ideas evolved across different contexts
Keyboard shortcuts
Section titled “Keyboard shortcuts”Unlinked References is a review interface. No specific keyboard shortcuts.
